What is the Lake Park Booster Club?

The Lake Park Booster Club is an organization composed of parents, staff, alumni and friends that supports all sports at Lake Park High School by raising money to purchase supplies, equipment, uniforms, and/or capital items beyond what the school athletic budget provides. Each of the 27 sports at Lake Park, plus the Lancettes, has direct access to the Lake Park Booster Club Board of Directors.

Who is on the Booster Board of Directors?

The Board for 2009-2010 consists of the following:

LP Athletic Director: Pete Schauer
President: Kelly Hock
Vice President: Deb Nawrot
Treasurer/Accountant: Steve Caboor
Marketing Coordinator: Larry Vittal
Concessions Sales Coordinator: Kim Kreiser
Spirit Sales Coordinator: Jamie Alfano
School Store Coordinator: Sandy Phelan
Membership Coordinator: Barb Drufke
Secretary/Volunteer Coordinator: Sandy Aronson
Sponsorship Coordinator: Rose Jurczewski

How often does the Board meet?

For 2009-2010, the Monthly Booster Board meetings will be held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the East Campus Community Room. All are welcome to attend. These meeting will start in September 2009 and conclude in May 2010.

How is money raised by the Booster Club?

Money is raised through Lake Park Booster Club membership dues, spirit wear sales, and concession sales.

We plan to increase our ability to generate funds for Lake Park athletic programs in the near future by opening up corporate sponsorships within Board mandated guidelines, selling advertisements in the "Lake Park Sports" booklet, and a number of special events which are in the planning stages.

How is the money raised spent?

Exactly 100% of the money raised by the Booster Club is invested into Lake Park athletic program supplies, equipment, and/or capital items beyond what the school athletic budget provides less necessary expenses.

Is There a Corporate Sponsorship Program?

Yes, we are happy to announce the Lake park School Board has approved a Corporate Sposorship Program. In addition to supporting the athletic programs, and funding scholarships, the Corporate Sponsorship Program will allow us to upgrade Lake Park support facilities.Click here to learn more about our Corporate Sponsorship program.

Doesn't the Booster Club offer scholarships?

Yes we do. Every year, as funds are available, we offer at least one $1,000 scholarship for a Lake Park senior male student athlete and at least one $1,000 scholarship for a senior female student athlete.

For a complete description of our scholarship criteria, please click on this link.

Who works the spirit wear sales and concessions sales?

All parents of athletes are asked to volunteer at least 2 hours per year to help provide the manpower needed to make these programs a success. By parents donating their time, it allows the Booster Club to flourish and bring in the needed funds that go directly back to their kids’ athletic programs. Just as their own child(ren) are on a team, so are we as parents of athletes.

Why should I join?

By becoming a Booster Club member, you not only will help our young athletes have a more enjoyable and rewarding high school experience, but you also will make new friends and derive satisfaction in knowing that you have enriched the Lake Park High School community.

Why do we need a booster club at Lake Park? Doesn’t the District cover all costs associated with sports programs?

The district only provides each school with enough money to pay for coaches, referees, uniforms, basic IHSA approved equipment, transportation, and some supplies, such as medical equipment and balls. Other items needed by the 27 individual sports programs and the Lancettes must be purchased through other funds and the Booster Club funds are used to make up the difference for many needed items.

Does the Booster Club support all LPHS interscholastic sports?

Yes, the Booster Club funds are used to support all LPHS interscholastic teams plus the Lancettes.

Does the Booster Club do anything other than raise money for the athletic programs?

The Booster club funds scholarships for Lake Park athletes and are awarded each year if funds are available based on specific criteria. The Booster Club also provides funding or food items for each team’s annual awards ceremonies for the fall, winter and spring sports programs.

Who determines how the Booster Club profits are spent?

Allocating the funds (how, where and when) is discussed at the monthly Booster Club meetings (All members are encouraged to attend these meetings and all meetings are open to the public). The Athletic Director solicits input for each program’s coaches and provides a wish list to the Booster Board for discussion and approval by the end of each school year. For items approved, the Booster Board issues a check to the Athletic Department to be allocated for the approved items. In some cases, the Booster Board issues a check directly to a vendor, especially if an approved item is urgently needed to expedite the purchase process.

How can I help?

There are many ways to help within the Booster program. From becoming a Booster member to volunteering time towards a concession/spirit wear event, or being on one of several committees, or being a committee chairperson, Board member or being a corporate/business sponsor and helping to raise funds for big ticket items such as concession stand upgrades/construction. All levels of participation are welcome and no level of participation is too small. Each level of involvement enables the other and together we are one – the Lake Park Lancer Booster Club.
